Have you had any problems with your print server after installing Windows 11 on your computer? Well, you’re not the only one that feels this way. Microsoft has acknowledged that flaws are preventing Windows 11 PCs from connecting to corporate networks and installing printers.

HTTP Protocol Connections

The initial printing problem was identified in Windows PCs that used HTTP connections to access printers. When attempting to connect to the server to install the printer, a directory mismatch would occur instantly. As a result, the installation files are generated improperly, making downloading the drivers problematic.

Microsoft also found a problem with corporations. This is particularly true when using the Internet Printing Protocol to deploy printers (IPP).

Thanks to the PrintNightmare, Microsoft says it’s had its fair share of problems this year. In June, a proof-of-concept exploit was inadvertently disclosed, resulting in the birth of the PrintNightmare. As a result of the breach, Microsoft had to release an emergency out-of-band fix.

After the organization inadvertently published the proof-of-concept, security experts at Sangfor were able to identify the vulnerability when it became operational (PoC). As a result, the attackers learned how to fully exploit the vulnerability. By executing remote execution code assaults, they may acquire system-level rights.

The threat of PrintNightmare

In August, PrintNightmare made a return. According to reports from September, the latest patches had some issues as well. Despite the fixes, this is the case. Microsoft had no option but to take action once again.

On the plus side, the Redmond behemoth is presently working on a Windows 11 patch update to assist in the resolution of these issues. In the interim, Microsoft advises IT administrators to manually transfer bundled drivers. Alternatively, administrators may change the printer settings on the Windows 11 computers.

You may still apply the October Patch Tuesday cumulative updates if you’re using an earlier version of Windows. This will assist you in resolving any printing issues.
